Instructions for Submitting Material to The Open Scroll

Please Note: The Scroll is not accepting submissions at this time. We have a huge backlog of poems and stories to review, and we are no longer accepting submissions of works for future issues.

Please include your work on one of the interactive pages on the site, such as the Poetry Exchange or The Scroll Cafe. In the near future, a new section of the Scroll will be unveiled which will allow writers to put their work up for review by the readers who visit the site.

Please ignore the rest of this junk...

Submissions may be emailed or, for longer material, snail mailed to The Open Scroll. Electronic format is preferred. Material will be either accepted as is or rejected, and in both cases, the author will be notified of the decision.

Full copyright is in effect. The Open Scroll will publish material only in the web magazine format - no printed version is currently available. Material will be released first in a monthly issue, and then the work will appear under the author's name in the 'Directory of Authors,' and will remain as part of any 'Past Issue.' Aliases may be used. An email mailto can be attached under each author's name, if that author so desires.

At this time, no money is involved in the publication of the magazine.

Material is not edited, but changes may be suggested. The formatting is determined by the limitations of HTML and web publishing. If the material should be specifically formatted, please so instruct.

Upon submitting your work to The Open Scroll, you will be automatically added to the Scroll Mailing List, which announces updates and new issue releases on the rare occasions when they occur.

The Open Scroll is dedicated to the publication of a variety of opinion and tastes. A work will not be rejected for content as much as for a lack of style. Currently, the internet and the web are caught in the highly charged political turmoil, and I would hope that this magazine will help to further the cause of freedom of speech. I highly encourage you to submit your piece.

And a new rule: submit no more than two works - and only one if it is lengthy.

Let palaver be the bulwark of the internet.
