Shades of Grey

1 In the mirror you see..
Shades of grey,
Looking back at me..

Lost in time, peace of mind..
Riding a wavelength,
Of pure light and joy..

In your eyes,
I see hope,
For the future..

Unwind..

It was homeward bound when you found,
A kiss on the lips,
That you felt to your toes.

Just an open hearted paradise,
When we care, when we dare,
Take me there..

Sharing life's passion and woes,
We see that our flaws,
Are truly perfect..

And at night when the Angel's hover,
It is about you,
That they whisper - My dear..
2 Parting the night's shadows
With their careless whispers
That carry your caress on the wind
3
And then you are slipping.

Back into the grey
abyss, too perfect for this world
of technicolor fingers and fluttering eyelashes
soft.

My butterfly.

Alight on your face, your
flawless cheek, rosy with ash
a polaroid transfer onto my skin.
I can feel you with my eyes.

You are beautiful.

Too beautiful in my world of grey.

And I stare back into you,
you in my hourglass,
my mirrored Alice at the teaparty,
fade into the yellowed leaves of paper,
my marginalia, my sepia dream.
