Red Roses

1 Why are so many roses are RED?
Did they turn red with a lovers kiss
or blush with a lovers wish.
Did they bleed from the thorn of a lovers touch
or did they burn from a lovers passion.
Why are the roses so red.
2
Ah, the roses are red as they blush for you,
and violets are sad, that's why they are blue,
they grieve for your touch; they long to be seen
there at your side making grasses so jealous, envious; green...

3
red roses, wilted by the sun
loving, caring until their time is done
giving warmth, giving light
to push away the lovers' fright
raindance in the middle of winter
like the dance of joy that makes the soul splinter
red roses, nurtured by the rain
left bleeding, soaking in pain
4
But the thorn
They cut
Your heart
is worn
thin Your
presence
taken for granted
