You are absolutely right, JTB, it should be "lives." With regard to the matter of indentation, it is typically used if the entire line unbroken would extend too far across the page. In this case I felt that the reminder of the line didn't deserved the same 'status' as a new line. Visually it also seems to work better this way. Thanks for your comments.
