last night was really great
like a thousand little fireflies in a glass
just for me to look at in my glory
I thought maybe it was something
a connection
forged in this stone that is us
last night I felt myself betraying me
like I was giving too much
when often too little is enough
so we can keep this
if only in a picture frame somewhere
with all those other testaments of our lives
maybe we can walk in the cold some other time
until our faces are pink again
and our breath can come out so far into the night
so last night was really nice
